I’m in Thailand!
I’m in Bangkok for the weekend! Anyone who knows me knows that I looove me some Thailand, so when a girlfriend proposed a quick weekend getaway to Bangkok I was all for it. Since we’ve both been before (this is my 3rd visit to the country and my girlfriend’s 5th), we decided to keep it simple: all that’s on the agenda is eating and shopping. As such, we hopped in a cab this afternoon and hightailed it to Bangkok’s Chatuchak Market, said to be one of the largest weekend markets in all of the world. It’s massive, crowded, and high energy — just the way I like it! There is food, clothing, flowers, souvenirs, and even animals for sale in the market. Since I’m short on time (just popped into the hotel for a quick shower and rest, now off to dinner — shopping and eating are the name of the game, remember?!), here are a few snaps so you can get a feel for our experience.

I was just there last week. Did not expect t to be so huge. Market on steroids. It was definitely fun to visit. I also really like shops with those beautiul lights. Too bad my backpack is too small for serious shopping. 🙂

I LOVE that market. You can find anything and everything there. I made the mistake of taking my kids along last time. After about 2 hours, they were begging me to go and I was just getting started. I have to plan another trip to Bangkok just for going to the market.
Haha! My friend was on the hunt for a purse and I have to admit that the search tired me out a little bit (and I am an adult who likes shopping, markets, and purses). Can’t imagine what it would be like for kids!
Mmmmh…I love love love chatuchak market…got some really cool colored sunglasses the last time I was in Bangkok, and at a good price too!!! Will be sure to collect all colours of the rainbow when I get there next time..
The food is awesome too, as well as the sweet tangerine drink sold by the roadside…really refreshing in the hot thai weather!!

It’s definitely one of the benefits of living in HOng Kong!
I always recommend chatuchak or “JJ” market to my friends who wants to go shopping in Bangkok. We also have a similar weekend market in Phuket which is called the Chaofa night market which is about 20 minutes away from our resort. Great post Oneika! 🙂
Love this market! It was one of my favorite parts of Bangkok.
Market shopping is where it’s at! Though I love the malls in BKK.
But Thailand is a military dictatorship now.

I still have not been to Thailand. I will have to hold off though, while I tour more of Africa next year 🙂

I love this market! I got a silver ring there in 2009 and it was so cheap but it’s my fave ring! I want to go back to Bangkok just to shop!
It’s intimidating for it’s size but it’s a great place, especially if you know how to bargain!

Today, I went to the beach front with my children. I found
