As a full time travel blogger and travel journalist, I’ve grown accustomed to people telling me how they wish they could travel as much as I do. Especially my North American peeps, who on average only get about two weeks of paid leave a year!
But while most people may not have months on end to travel, one of the things I’m a huge proponent of is the extended long holiday weekend. This is where you take one or two of your vacation days and add it to a 3-day long holiday weekend (like Memorial Day in the US or Victoria Day in Canada) so that it results in a 4-5 day vacay… aka a proper holiday!
I actually did this pretty often when I worked as a teacher in Canada and the UK (and found that even five days away from the office put the pep back in my step), so in my latest post for Alamo I’m sharing my top U.S. destinations for extended long holiday exploration. Check it out here!

I so agree on the NYC holiday weekend! My partner and I recently visited (we drove lol bad decisions) but we had a great time exploring brooklyn ( l LOVE dumbo) and Manhattan and we got to dance the night away in Queens. We made good coverage with 2.5 days of free time (had to include drive). If you fly you can get even more time too! N E who im ramblin but yea love your youtube channel too. Keep winning queen!!
