Out and about NYC: A taste of DUMBO

BY ONEIKA RAYMOND

Though temperatures in New York City at the moment are bordering on balmy (it’s 60 degrees farenheit in December! Insane!)  I couldn’t resist digging into the archives and sharing a few pictures from a jaunt Liebling and I did to the DUMBO area of Brooklyn this summer. DUMBO, short for Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass, is a trendy neighbourhood known for its concentration of industrial workspaces, bearded hipsters, and kitsch (move over, Williamsburg!)   The area boasts a wicked waterfront perfect for preening photos, as well as food stands serving everything from lobster rolls to fro yo. The sprawling Brooklyn Bridge Park is also found here, so think about packing your picnic basket (and sporting gear for that matter– the park has over 5 acres of basketball, bocce, handball, and shuffleboard courts) when you come down!

Because I love you all, I made a short video so you can get a better feel for the area.  Liebling and I took the East River Ferry from Long Island City to DUMBO– about a 45 minute ride. It’s lovely on a sunny summer day like this one!
