Meet Daisy. She’s a Rothschild giraffe and very friendly.
She licked my hand. Her tongue felt like sandpaper. It was cool.
Our second day in Nairobi, my friend and I made our way to the Giraffe Center, where we got our first taste of wildlife. The center, just outside of the city limits, was small and kind of a rip-off: upon entering we happened upon a gated area where Daisy and another giraffe were grazing. And that was it for the “center”, apart from another area where we met the turtle pictured below, and another small area where one could buy souvenirs. I think we paid about $10 USD to enter, so I was not very impressed. But still, it’s not every day that you get up close and personal with a giraffe!

Hey Oneika, I just stumbled upon your blog and I must say I am super jealous!!! I am Maasai from Kenya so I naturally am a nomad and despite having lived in several states here in America I have not really travelled enough to calm this inner beast that wants to see all of God's wonderful world. So,I intend to remedy that pronto! I love the traveller tips you give on your blog and I will defintely use them. How long were you in Kenya? Do you intend to go back?
