I’ve already said that you can’t come to Berlin without eating a currywurst. I’d like to add that you can’t leave Berlin without eating a kebab.
There are distinct advantages to being involved with a Berlin native, one of them being that they know all the best joints to get food in town. After taking me to the renowned Curry 36 one cold evening in Berlin, Liebling brought me to Balli, his favourite doner kebab place in the city.

But I saw why as soon as Liebling collected my order from the counter and laid it down our table. Isn’t she a beauty?
I’m not a huge kebab fan, but the fresh ingredients and fine taste made me a believer. Besides, at 4 euros for a kebab nearly as big as my head (see pic below for proof!) one really can’t go wrong.
Good food makes my heart happy. What about you? If you find yourself in Berlin, do give Balli a try.

I love (vegetarian) kebabs and definitely had more than my fair share in France. It's the perfect nighttime food — and I just love that special sauce! Yum! 🙂

Hm..lecker! That looks like the perfect Döner size to me. But where is the Tzatziki? ;)) I miss all the different foods and that you can get them 24/7.
I tried my first here in Copenhagen and it really wasn't impressed. For a city renowned for its cuisine, the kebabs are far from spectacular and cost more like 7 euro. Then I went to Berlin in August and had one there. Like you I'm not big on them, but the quality is top. I also liked the haloumi. I just booked a ticket back there for the Film Festival this month and you can believe I'll be hitting this Balli joint up. Also looking forward to checking out the desserts at department store you mentioned, KaDeWe. Can't wait!
You just gave me a serious flashback! My husband played basketball in Trier and we LOVED going for doner kebabs. Need to find something comparable here in NYC. There HAS to be one right???

I went to Germany before I went to Turkey and I was surprised by the large Turkish population there. It's my understanding that they have opened many of the kebab eateries there. I didn't have the kebabs though because I was a vegetarian at the time of my visit. Next time. 🙂
I was going to ask if they had veggie kebabs, but I saw someone elses comment about loving them. I'll have to try one sometime!!!

I actually have video of me struggling to eat it that I must post! Yes, the foods in Berlin really contrast- it's super cosmopolitan so the grub highlights that..
It was there! But buried in the kebab. There was actually a bit too much, I had to wipe some of it out with a napkin!
Can't believe that kebabs are so expensive in cph. I am also a fan of haloumi, especially grilled! Let me know how you make out when you go to Kadewe and Balli!

You know what? I have absolutely no idea! But will try to find out for you. I do have a recommendation for London so if you end up coming here for a weekend, it might be worth your while to get your hair done at the same time!

You're making me hungry! There's a good kebab place run by a Turkish family here in Santiago, but I haven't been in far too long.
I’m not a great kebab fan. I am mainly put off by their joints- small, oily, smells are strange, etc. I have eaten them abroad because I was super hungry and I had to eat something quick but they are not a gastronomic delight.
I find that they taste the best when you re hungry! lol
