It probably comes as no surprise to anyone (whether you know me from this blog, or in real life), that I LOVE to take pictures. I’m the girl posing in the middle of the shot, with the hand on hip and toothy smile. It’s probably because I have always been a loudmouth and love being in the centre of attention (see exhibit A above).
So it is ironic that my significant other, Liebling, absolutely despises photos. For all the travelling we have done collectively since we’ve been together, Liebling rarely takes pictures, and when he does, he prefers to take landscapes/scenery, and absolutely refuses to be in them. But where is the fun in that?!!? It has taken a lot of coaxing on my part (as well as employing stealthy techniques such as surprise and ambushing) to get him into a photo.
Well, on this trip, I took a lot of video footage (much to his chagrin). He laughed as I asked him to film me walking down the street in Berlin this past Christmas, and rolled his eyes when I filmed stuff in Istanbul and narrated at the same time. But I love this sort of documentation, so he sighed and dutifully held the camera for me or waited patiently while I tried to get footage of one thing or another. He didn’t REALLY mind, just as long as he wasn’t in the video. Which I respected, for the most part.
But then, I just couldn’t resist taking this one as we were finishing up some Christmas shopping on the streets of Berlin…

hehe Max is the same way…he hates being in pictures, yet he complains that we have hundreds of photos of the dog on our harddrive and hardly any of him! lol

Maybe it's a man thing, my fiance is not all hot about pictures either. When we first got together, I had to threaten his life to get him smile. Now when it does it just, he does the fake one. LOL. I so hate that one.
And really Oneika, the camera loves you, you take a good picture.

@Crystal: too funny!! You should employ my ambush technique!! Then at least when he complains you can pull out those "surprise" photos… Hee hee!! Yes, I am such a geek with the "Welcome to Berlin" thing but I thought it would be cute for him to say it in German LOL!

@Flaming_star: you know what?! I think that it must be a man thing! Liebling rarely smiles in photos either, unless forced! I don't understand why… Maybe they think photo taking of themselves is "girly"? Also, thanks for the compliment!
@Rhona: I know! He has a really hybrid accent- not typically German at all- I think it's because he studied abroad in the States for a year and has worked in London for a couple of years not. But he still pronounces "W"s as "V" in typical German style… I love his accent! It's so cute!

I've never been overly fond of being in photos but hubby loves taking photos of me so…I paste a smile on my face (while thinking happy/sexy/funny/witty thoughts) and I hope for the best!
Yes, your liebling is cute when he's annoyed and it's nice that he does something he doesn't totally enjoy just for you!
