A short reflection on life and travel.
From guidebook to reality. It was my dream to travel, so I made it a priority — altered my life path so that I could make it happen. Some people look down on me for “counting countries”, but every new place I have visited is a symbol of my commitment to realizing my dream of seeing the world — and that in itself is exhilarating. My travels haven’t always been easy: they have involved many sacrifices, tough choices, hard work, missed opportunities, and a few tears. I took this picture in Myanmar, a place I didn’t even know existed in 2003 when I took my first cross-continental trip to France.
Little did I know that that year-long study abroad in the land of baguettes would rock my existence and change my life forever.

I think wanting to see the world is a positive thing. And dreams are personal– not everyone has the same dream. I think it’s great that you made yours a reality through conscious effort.
