The best thing about working in Hong Kong is that I get to celebrate New Year’s twice!
I rang in 2011 in Berlin with Liebling and friends and now, three weeks later, I’m celebrating Chinese New Year here in Hong Kong!
I get a week off of work, starting this afternoon. I was supposed to fly out to Malaysia to spend a week there, but after the recent problems with my health, I cancelled my plane ticket yesterday. I will instead be kicking around Hong Kong for the week, resting, relaxing, reading, and pampering myself! I’m bummed about not going to Malaysia (I was supposed to go to Kuala Lumpur, then to Penang and Langkawi), but think it’s much more prudent to stay in Hong Kong and give myself the time to fully recover from this stomach bug, which has had me in its grip since mid-December. Ultimately, I was able to get a flight credit (though I did lose some money on the ticket because of cancellation fees, etc) so I’m hoping to at least do a weekend trip to Kuala Lumpur before I leave Asia in June.
This whole week staff and students were encouraged to dress in Chinese traditional clothing. So here’s me in my Chinese shirt!

Ok, I am so happy you are taking this time to rest. Girl, you need to eat! Take that time and really pamper yourself as you said. Do nothing that includes stress. Good for you. There will be hundreds of other trips but if you lose your health..you can lose everything.

London! So exciting. Maybe on your way from Asia to Europe you'll want to stop off in India for a bit….huh huh? Consider this an open invitation. Seriously.

@tanya: thanks, lady! i'm trying to find ways to live in france for a few months but it looks like i'll go straight to london and get an apartment with liebling. but a very dear friend of mine still lives in nice so i'm hoping to make it down there for a short visit before the end of the year! would love to meet you in person 🙂
@rhona: yes! that's the plan so far! i really wanted to live in paris but i don't think i can bear to be away from liebling any longer than necessary :-). of course i would love to show you around! i probably move there until september, though! what you say about health is sooooo true. so im just taking the time to relax 🙂 and thanks for the compliment!
@kay:happy new year to you as well! how long will you be in india?! i would LOVE to come! keep me posted! as for the self pics, i just got a new macbook pro for work and have been fooling around quite a bit with photo booth 🙂 it's so easy to snap a pic and post! i was checking out some of those pics of you (at least i think it was you!) in your egypt posts and agree that you need to post more pics of yourself online- you look good! also, you're growing out your hair natural, right? maybe you can document the process! i should do the same for my locs…
