There are lots of cool hikes to be done in Hong Kong, which take you far away from the hustle-bustle of the metropolis. Last Saturday, a couple of friends and I hiked from Discovery Bay (DB) to Mui Wo, two points located on opposite ends of Lantau Island, a 30-minute ferry ride from Central Hong Kong. The hike, while paved, was mostly uphill, but we were rewarded with stunning views at the peak and on the way down, despite the hazy day. We walked alongside greenery and vegetation, and I managed to snap a photo of a banana tree in near bloom. We also walked alongside the beach, and I was shocked to see how badly the shore was littered with trash.

Beautiful. Don't worry. I never thought you were "hating" Asia. I was glad to get the heads up. France is pretty smokey, too. And there's a lot of dog poop.

@Mil- LOL at the dog poop comment! I stepped in "merde" a few times when I lived there and I was NOT pleased.
@Deidre- I know!! I had never seen one before I moved to Asia. I never knew that bananas even grew like that! And ditto on the trash. It's disgusting. What a shame.
