In London

BY ONEIKA RAYMOND

 I’m here. I’m in London.
And guess what?  It’s been sunny ever since I got here three days ago. How’s that for a good omen?

I want to thank you so much for all of your kind messages; they were heartfelt and I continue to be touched by your thoughtfulness.  Your support, your cheerleading, make me so happy to have this blog, to have acquainted myself with such good, positive, and like-minded people.

I got here with relatively little drama. On the plane, there was a crying baby a few rows behind me who set ears ablaze with her high-pitched wails. But otherwise, my journey went off without a hitch.

Liebling met me at the airport and we hauled my appallingly large and awkward suitcase back to Liebling’s place in Richmond, a suburb west of London. We will only be living here temporarily- in three weeks’ time we move to our flat right in the city.

As predicted, I have been sleeping. A lot.

Despite this, we have had the opportunity to profit from what has been amazing weather the last few days.  I finally saw the Thames River (pictured above) in person and have strolled along Richmond’s high street (shopping street).  Liebling has been leading me around on the arm and giving me what I call a “London Education”: telling me what to see, where to eat, and how to get around.

While I haven’t been in London very long, I somehow think that I’m going to like it here. Stay tuned.

Psst! Don’t forget to “like” me on Facebook if you haven’t already! Your support is much appreciated!
