India: My Taj Mahal Photo Essay

BY ONEIKA RAYMOND

Warning: there are a LOT of pics in this post and not many words.

The absolute highlight of my trip to India was my three days in the city of Agra, where I saw the Taj Mahal. It blew me away. Below is the Facebook status I posted immediately after having visited the Taj:

‘Every time I think I am jaded when it comes to travelling, I see something spectacular and have to eat my words. Got up super early and went to the Taj Mahal at sunrise and it took my breath away. India is the 61st country I’ve been to – can’t believe it took me this long to get here and see this! The only thing that would have made it perfect would’ve been to have a friend/loved one to share this moment with me, but so it goes when you are travelling solo. Feeling super blessed this morning!’

All eloquence goes out the window when it comes to describing what I felt when I saw the Taj for the first time in real life.  No adjective, no turn of phrase can really describe how beautiful this place is. So I’m posting the pictures below and allowing you to draw your own conclusions.  I’ll have a post up soon about how to get there, costs, etc.

Have you ever been to the Taj Mahal?  Have you ever been moved emotionally by a monument or historic/tourist site?
