My big, bad summer travel itinerary: Iceland. UK. Germany. Sweden. Italy. Croatia.

BY ONEIKA RAYMOND

Looks like my Eurotrip 2010 might just end up giving Eurotrip 2009 (during which I went to France, Scotland, Ireland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, and Poland) a run for its money!

After careful planning, all the tickets are bought and paid for and all that needs to be done now is wait for the adventure to begin.

The list of travel destinations this summer extends beyond me like the yellow brick road… After my return to Canada to catch up with family and friends…

My travels will take me to Reykjavik, Iceland for a two-day jaunt (thanks to a flexible layover).

Then, I’m off to the UK where I’ll spend the bulk of my time kicking around London with the Liebling. I hope to visit Oxford, Cambridge, and Stonehenge during the days when the Liebling is at work!

Then, Liebling and I are off for a weekend trip to Deutschland, where he will show me all the treasures of his native Berlin. I went to Berlin once in the winter of 2005 and LOVED it so I am looking forward to going during the summertime with a native Berliner!

The following weekend, we were able to snag a cheaping 50 GBP ticket to Stockholm, Sweden, where we will surely eat tons of meatballs and marvel at the sheer blondeness of Swedes. I know absolutely NOTHING about Sweden so I am really looking forward to checking it out, even if only for a short time.

Ten days later is when it really heats up. Liebling begins vacation and we are taking off to bella Italia. Landing in Rome, we will bask in the Italian capital and then make our way down to Napoli, and then even further south to explore the Amalfi coast, which, judging by the pictures, will be breathtakingly gorgeous.

After 9 days of gelato, pasta, and limoncello, we fly to Split, Croatia where we’ll rent a boat with friends (because yes, Liebling is a certified skipper!) and sail along the gorgeous Croatian coastline (making sure to check out Hvar, which is apparently likened to Ibiza. Oh boy). After a week of sunbathing on the boat deck and navigating the sea, I’ll finally make my way back to Hong Kong (via Rome, and with a layover in Moscow).

So excited!
