So I got an apartment…

BY ONEIKA RAYMOND

which is tiny and will cost me an arm and a leg every month, but is probably worth it since:

-it is in the center of town (which means I can walk home after a night out)

-the inside is partially renovated and the building is relatively new (aesthetically pleasing and pretty clean (which hopefully means none of the huge and numerous asian cockroaches that HK is known for)

-it’s on the 10th floor and on a hill so it has a great view

-the owner/landlord is British which will greatly alleviate communication difficulties

-rent is astronomical everywhere on Hong Kong Island (unless you are willing to live in a dodgy area with lots of rats and cockroaches) so I might as well live in the close to everything while paying aforementioned astronomical rent

-the apartment has two(TINY) bedrooms, which means that visitors will have their own (TINY) room!

The only things I’m not fond of are the kitchen and bathroom… They are super small and were not renovated with the rest of the apartment so they are a little drab/gross (hopefully nothing a lot of bleach and a little elbow grease can’t fix. Besides, it’s not like I ever cook!

At any rate, I’m just glad I won’t be living on the street! I move in next week! A trip to IKEA for a few scant furnishings (don’t have a lot of room for much else) is on the agenda for tomorrow…
