South Africa: Our safari adventure in Kruger National Park!

If you only ever watch one of my creations, let it be this one! In my latest vid I take you with me on a South African safari– Sabi Sands Game Reserve is part of the world renowned Kruger National Park and the amount and variety of wildlife will take your breath away.

We gasped as elephants stomped past our safari truck, close enough to touch.
We grimaced as we witnessed a pack of wild dogs snacking on prey.
We cooed as a mother leopard and her cub played with each other not 20 feet away from our vehicle.
We saw lions, and rhinos, and zebras (oh my!)– all while marvelling at the spectacular backdrop that is Mama Africa.

I thought I would be bored watching animals for hours on end, but turns out that observing animals in their natural habitat as they go about their lives is kind of like a soap opera (just WAIT until you see my footage from Botswana– we witnessed two male giraffes get into a fight over a female giraffe!)

At any rate, I hope that these visuals will inspire you to go on a safari if you never have been! Safaris aren’t perfect but I think they offer a far more ethical way than zoos to observe and appreciate members of the animal kingdom (I’m thinking mostly of the furore surrounding Harambe and that poor little boy).

And furthermore: seeing the circle of life play out before your eyes– that’s really something.

One more thing: Africa is NOT a country. Africa is a rich and diverse region and South Africa is but one small part. One piece of the puzzle, a single page in a grand and long story.

Also, Africa is SO MUCH MORE than safaris. So if– actually WHEN– you make it to the continent, remember to explore the cities, talk to the people, eat the food, and go forth with eyes, ears, mind, and heart wide open.

Have you ever been on a safari?

I work and live in Kruger, it would have been sooooo amazing to meet you. You must come back!! I’m so glad you had an amazing time. I love your blog, and hope to travel even a quarter of how much you’ve traveled.
