Temperate Tenerife: The Island of Eternal Spring
Tenerife is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe. Besides promising stunning beaches and crystal clear waters, it also boasts year-round sun that makes it the perfect destination at any time of the year. Summer in Tenerife
Summer is hot in Tenerife, but thankfully not too hot. Whereas other destinations at the same latitude can become uncomfortably hot, the coastal winds that brush over Tenerife keep the temperature comfortably cool while never making it feel cold.
The average temperature in the summer is about 24°C, which is far from overwhelming but perfect for hitting the beach and working on your tan.
Winter in Tenerife
The winter in Tenerife never gets too cold, making it the perfect place to escape for some summer sun. With an average of between 15°C and 20°C, the winter is very mild and the plentiful sunshine makes it possible to swim in the sea even in the middle of winter.
Tenerife’s Microclimates
The climate in the north of Tenerife is quite different from in the south. The north of the island is generally a bit cooler and it also rains more in the north – but for that reason it is also greener.
The south is more popular with visitors, and this is where you’ll get the best beaches and warmest weather. However, it is more crowded as a result. You may therefore want to visit both the south and the north to see which you prefer. Tenerife is quite small, so you can easily visit the north even if you are staying in a southern resort.
When to Go

The summer holidays are the busiest time of the year, so this might affect your decision. Tenerife is a big family holiday destination, so during the summer holidays it can become more crowded. The hottest time of year is from May to July, and the main peak season is from May to October. The other peak season is from December to February because of the holidaymakers on their winter breaks. So if you are looking for something a bit quieter, between these peak seasons is your best bet.
