I just booked tickets to go to Singapore… In May of 2011.
As you have probably figured out by now, I don’t sleep when it comes to travel. So, when, last Thursday, a couple of friends and I got to talking about we’d be up for doing a weekend in Singapore at some point, a seed was planted. About an hour after that conversation we were checking online for the cheapest way to get there. WHEN we could actually go was another issue. You see, me and my teacher friends often have to plan our travel way in advance since the only chance we really have to travel falls during school holidays (read: peak season).
So going at Christmas was out for everyone (one friend is going back to Canada for Christmas, one is already booked for Thailand, and I’ll be making my merry way to Germany and Turkey). Chinese New Year in February was also a no-go, as the same two friends are planning on doing Vietnam (I am yet undecided). Easter vacay? We’re thinking of doing the Eat, Pray, Love thing and heading to Bali.
Apart from these school breaks, we only have one other long weekend left. We opted for a long weekend and not for a regular one as the flight to Singapore is nearly 4 hours each way and a two-day weekend is just too short for somewhere so far. Plus, the flight times were weird. So we checked for the last long weekend available for the year… And found a dirt cheap ticket.
What is there to do in Singapore? Not sure yet, but am looking forward to your recommendations.
