Angel Station is a tube stop in London and nestled in an area in the northeastern part of the city called Islington. It is located on the Northern tube line. I’ve had the chance to go the Angel area a couple of times now and it is pretty funky, rammed with eateries, bars, and movie theatres.
Last Friday Liebling and I wentto see the amazing new Leo DiCaprio flick, “Inception” at the “Vue” theatre next to Angel tube. The “Vue” cinema shows all your typical blockbusters and, with their online system, you can reserve your tickets and even choose your seats from the comfort of your own home. At 10 quid a pop, movies aren’t the cheapest in London, but the ease of picking your seats before getting to the theatre means that you can waltz in one minute before the movie starts and not worry about where to sit. The area surrounding Angel has a number of cute eateries lined up row upon row on the narrow sidewalks of Islington. A couple of weeks ago I checked out a breakfast placed named, imaginatively enough, “The Breakfast Club” with an old friend of mine who is working in London. The Breakfast Club is actually a franchise that has a number of restaurants around London. Unsurprisingly, the restaurant serves breakfast all day and has a wide variety of dishes on offer. The LARGE portions are economically priced: 5 quid gets you a huge stack of pancakes, 4 quid gets you a massive plate of green eggs and ham on toast, and 8 quid nets you a gargantuan omelette that will keep you full for the whole day. A couple of nights ago I also went to a fantastic (and well-priced) French restaurant called “Le Mercury” next to Angel tube. This time we went in a group consisting of Liebling, myself, and a few of his friends. The Angel area was buzzing with tons of people so we had to wait about half an hour for a table, but no biggie since we had a drink at the pub located a few doors down from the restaurant. Only 7 quid for a main and 3 quid for starters and desserts! In expensive London, this place is definitely a safe haven for your wallet. And the food is good!
