• I have a friend whose father is Burmese but he looks Indian so like I had a perceived notion that Burmese people have typical Asian looks. While living in Indonesia, many Indonesians thought I was African or Papuan because of my dark skin and are genuinely taken aback when I tell them I’m from the UK.

• This is a beautiful photo essay Oneika! I really, really want to travel to Myanmar and this post makes me want to go even more!

• They look so much like the Indians…even the streers reminds me of Indian streets.

• Lovely! And yes, I agree, it makes me want to go.

  I can’t remember a time that I went somewhere and was particularly surprised by the way people look. That is probably because I don’t particularly remember, though, and not as much because I didn’t think it.

• I also love photographing people in their environment…what are the white smears on their faces, sun block?

  • The yellowish patches on their face is ‘thanaka’. A pasty like substance grinded from wood bark. Good for the skin, cooling sensation and yes also used as a sun block.

• I really love this Oneika! I’ve been starting to take more pictures of people as I travel and it is a nice reminder of the jokes or conversation had.

• You have captured some incredible portraits. I too love the diversity of the faces. I just arrived in India last night (it’s almost 5 am right now and I can’t sleep so I’m catching up on blogs and having snacks haha)… so I am going to pore over some of your India posts in the coming days including your faces of India. I just love portraits but can find it intimidating to ask sometimes. How did you find the people in India to react? So far, in one day here, I’ve just gotten a lot of stares (which I’m surprised hasn’t bothered me) but no one has asked for a photo.

• These photographs are beautiful Oneika. I’m not surprised that the people of Myanmar are so varied. Similar to Singapore, the people are a mix of different cultures, religions and ethnicities.
  I would say that the faces I was most surprised by, were the faces in India. One forgets that India isn’t just a country but a subcontinent too.

W takiej kondycji, taksiarz mało tego przeciętnego odszkodowania, przypuszczalnie także domagać się odszkodowania wewnątrz postojowe. Istnieje owo rekompensata wewnątrz godzina zgaszenia spośród stosowania pojazdu służącego, który serwuje do zamiarów zarobkowych.
