Indonesian food

BY ONEIKA RAYMOND

I was wary of some of the Indonesian and Balinese dishes due to my penchant for getting sick while travelling, but we still had our fair share of traditional dishes. Tasty and inexpensive- you really can’t go wrong.

Mie Goreng (Javanese fried noodle) with Prawn Crackers

Pepes Ikan (Fish steamed in a Banana Leaf) with three types of Rice

Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice dish with Fried Egg topping)

  • eggs and noodles – hell ya!

  • yum! I'm so jealous. I love Nasi Goreng. When we were in Bali we found a restaurant where the food was good, and none of us got sick so we stuck with that. I love trying foods from different countries but I did get quite ill in Peru trying all the different food!!

  • I love eggs and will find anything to place it on top of!

  • I hate eggs, everything looks great besides that.

  • @changingmoods: oh, it was reaaaalll good… 🙂

    @Nathanz: c'est clair!

    @liveletlive: tasted delish too!

    @kay: I agree!

    @kiwi: You know what, I'm always so reluctant when I go eat in a foreign country now, but I was lucky that I didn't get sick in Bali at all! I usually try to stick to the same restaurants in a particular destination if the food and I haven't gotten sick from it.

    @Chinye: I'm the same way! I eat eggs for breakfast five times a week.

    @Melissa: You are missing out. LOL..

  • Ugh, I know the getting sick thing. I've gotten parasites twice!

  • Sooo delicious! I love that everything is topped with an egg. When we were in spain I felt like everything I ordered came with a fried edd perched on top. Some people just like eggs I guess. 🙂

  • @Deidre: You feel my pain! It seems like I get sick nearly every time I travel! So annoying!

    @Hannah: I agree, I'm an egg person, too! I like them all ways: scrambled, soft boiled, poached.. Mmmm…

    @Mil: Cute and tasty. 🙂
