How to Party like a Rockstar
-Take two cups of a kick-ass Mediterranean beach town
-Add one and a half teaspoons of a (dwindling)bank account
-Mix in a bunch of motivated foreigners and Frenchies looking for a good time at all costs
-Stir rapidly with a whisk (and some alcohol) until blended well
-Put in a packed nightclub (on a school night) and put on high heat.
-Bring mixture to a boil
-Remove from heat. Add more alcohol to mixture
et voila! My recent nights have been filled with all night partying, which involves tons of people, dancing, and alcohol intake (other people’s, as I don’t drink). Damn. I am tired. A recent night out involved pulling an all-nighter in Monaco, where we went out to a club that was having a special only “hip-hop” night (an event so rare in France that I had to jump at the opportunity, despite the 20 euro cover charge). We left on the last train out of Nice to Monaco (arriving there at about midnight), and took the first train back to Nice from Monaco in the wee hours of the morning (at around 6:30am). Definitely not for the faint of heart. But you do what you gotta do when in Rome- err, I mean France!
And what with the brushes with fame? I am referring none other to the fact that I met ERYKAH BADU (now, if you don’t know who she is, make thy way to Wikipedia and educate thyself)!! Crazy!!! Basically, I went to see her perform at the Nice Jazz Festival with a bunch of friends, and afterward managed to finagle myself into going backstage and meeting her. Craziness!!
So yes, yes, I’m still here, living the good life on the French Riviera. So much so that I haven’t been taking the time to post. My time here is quickly coming to a close so I am trying to take full advantage of the time left!! I can’t believe how quickly the time has flown! I fly back to Canada next Wednesday, and then will have precisely a week of packing frenzy until I board another trans-continental flight(read: long ass plane ride) to the crazy, Asian paradise that is Hong Kong.
This is shaping up to be a great end to a great sojourn here in France.
