Where to stay: Hotel Ares Eiffel in Paris

BY ONEIKA RAYMOND

Staying at the Hotel Ares Eiffel was one of the highlights of my trip to Paris back in late August. After a quick glance at my pictures, it’s plain to see why.

I arrived there on a Friday afternoon road weary after an early morning train ride in from Zurich.  I was harried and hot- the heat in Paris is stifling in August and I had spent the last hour lugging my unglamorous backpack to and fro on the Paris metro.

The Hotel Ares Eiffel is located in an area I’m not that familiar with: tucked in one of the circular streets of the 15th arrondissement, it’s basically a stone’s throw from the Eiffel Tower. After a short walk from La Motte Picquet metro station, I entered the hotel and right away I knew that this was my kind of place.  I am a huge fan of luxury accommodation, you see,  and the 4-star Hotel Ares Eiffel has style… in spades.  This design hotel combines old school architecture with modern flair- it’s evident in the decoration and makes for a very comely outcome.

The cream-coloured carpet in the hallway was plush and spongy underfoot as I padded up to my room, otherwise known as Paradise, on the top floor.

Call me over-zealous, I don’t care. I was housed in the Hotel Ares’ junior suite, and it made me sigh with smug contentment.

I could even spot a bit of the Eiffel Tower from my window.

On its website, the hotel claims it is a paragon of luxury and comfort and I am inclined to agree.  I never figured out how to use the bed, but it came with a remote control.  Apparently it pivots *giggle*.

Also of interest was the swag that came in the room. There was a lot of it and it made me embarrassingly happy. There were fancy French chocolates on the bed, and champagne on the desk.  There was an artillery of Hermes(!) products in the bathroom that I scooped up and put into my luggage without shame.  Can you blame me?! That was probably the first and last encounter  I’ll ever have with Hermes and the handy sample sizes meant I could easily stow the hand lotion in my purse. Just keepin’ it real, folks. Really now. Hermes!

Now, as I only had one night at this lovely hotel, I was reluctant to leave its spoils.  But dinner with the even lovelier Nomadic Chick awaited me so I somehow managed to leave the room for a couple of hours.  On the way back to the hotel, however, I made a stop at the Eiffel Tower and took a whole bunch of pretty pictures– the Hotel Ares is only a 10-minute walk away.

Et oui, encore une raison pour tomber amoureux de Paris!

I reluctantly left my room behind the next morning after an indulgent slumber and very French breakfast of croissants and jam.

The Hotel Ares gets my seal of approval; if you’re travelling to Paris for a special event or occasion (think a romantic getaway with your significant other) it is the perfect choice.  As a matter of fact, my only regret was that I stayed here solo- I wish Liebling had been with me to bask in the luxury!

Have you ever stayed in this area of Paris?  Have you ever been to Paris with a significant other?

While I was a guest of WIHP and the Hotel Ares Eiffel, they didn’t request I write a favourable review or gorge myself on croissants at the hotel breakfast.

  • I tried to book this hotel for New Year’s Eve but of course it was sold out. This place looks amazing. I will make it there one day.

    • I was meant to stay there for two nights but it was also sold out so I had to settle for one.. 🙂 You HAVE to stay there!

  • OMG it’s gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hermes products! Yes please!!! Love your shots and that you can see the Eiffel Tower out the window.

  • Oneika, you’re killing me!!!!!!!! I love Paris but I’ve only visited once – back in 2000. We stayed at a small hotel in the 9th arrondisement. It was nice, clean and very cute but nothing like your photos. I can’t wait to go back. And as a matter of fact your’re driving me crazy because I can’t just pack my bags and leave tomorrow but thanks away for all your great tips and photos. They certainly keep Paris on my radar!

  • Is that a round bed!?

    To answer your questions,

    1) no. I’ve never been in a relationship whilst in Paris. I have, however, been with my family, myself, my friend Lindsay, my friend Jen, and my last trip was to meet my mom (and 48 high school kids).
    2) no. I find that the hotels in that area are too expensive and it’s just not the area that appeals to me. My favourite spot in Paris is the Marais – i like being near REpublique because it’s linked with so many metro lines.

    • It is! Cool eh! My friend just introduced me to the Marais area, I really like it!

  • I love that mirror in the bathroom — well, actually, I love it all! Great hotel with unique design. 🙂

  • Oh my gosh those face pillows are hilarious! I could definitely treat myself to THIS on all my Paris trips!

  • Hi, what are the prices like per day? I’m traveling in May and need a place to stay. This looks beautiful!

  • My husband and I are returning to Paris after almost 3 years. I always remember this particular review and we just booked this hotel thanks to you. I’m so excited!!!
    Love your blog:)

    • Omg yes I’m so happy! It was a great hotel!!!!

  • My wife and I stayed at this hotel back in 2012, loved it! We certainly will not hesitate to stay here again. Location to restaurants, train, ET and shopping are fantastic. If you have never been to the 15th, you will be pleasantly surprised.
